Saturday is June 1, and since the month has the most daylight hours of the year, it’s a great time to shop and get home before dark. That’s as good an excuse as any to shop!

Dealnews.com researched what’s usually on sale in June, and here’s what they came up with:

Discounts on lingerie are abundant, and that’s when Victoria’s Secret holds its semi-annual sale. It’s under way online now and in stores June 11, the retailer’s website says. Other retailers such as Frederick’s of Hollywood, Maidenform, Freshpair and Bare Necessities also have deals in June, but the markdowns are not as big as  from October to December.

Oh, and what a surprise, the Caribbean cruises are cheaper now, since June 1 is the start of the hurricane season. If you’re brave enough to risk going on a cruise after everything that has happened this year, there are discounts to be had.

Tools are also typically on sale in June, as retailers attempt to cash in on Father’s Day. Again, DealNews says better deals are available in October and November.

June 7 is National Doughnut Day, and free doughnuts will be available major doughnut stores such as Dunkin’ Donuts. You will probably have to purchase something else to get the freebie. But there are several Dunkin’ coupons in today’s Palm Beach Post.

June is also the start of back-to-school laptop sales. Often the best deals are bundles such as a laptop, printer, gaming console or gift card.

The 2013 HDTVs have hit the market and will get cheaper as the year goes by. DealNews recommends looking at the 2012 55-inch 3D LCD HDTVs, or the 46 or 47-inch 108p LCD HDTVs. Off brand 46-inch sets are at an all-time low of $329, while brand names that size are around $500.
